Design and installation of foul drains and treatment plant system for a development of 10 luxury cabinsMark Grantham
Recent projects include, sewage treatment plants to serve 10 Luxury Lodges at Wold View Fisheries and Leisure Park.
Wold View Fisheries and Leisure Park approached us to advise on them on the installation of sewage treatment for this development. The area is an area of outstanding natural beauty and being situated amongst the sites seven lakes water quality and the need to avoid any risk of contamination to the lakes was a priority.
Ultimately we were entrusted to not only design and install the sewage treatment plants but also all pipework, including designing and installing a surface water system to deal with roof water run off and other associated works.
Due to our experience we also asked to design and install the clean water supply pipe system for the lodges.
Each Luxury Lodge is equal to a house, there is a mixture of two and three bed lodges. The system was designed with two treatment plants each one serving five lodges. The outfall from these discharges into the stream that runs through the centre of the site. These units run continuously and treat the variable rate of sewage input that results from the varying number of guests staying in the lodges at any given time.
The plants sit unobtrusively in an area of grass/landscaping between two lodges just off the main site road for ease of access, they are virtually silent and give off no smell. We designed a system of 150mm pipework to collect the effluent from each lodge and deliver into the plants. Complete design and installation to comply with Environment Agency and British Waterways guidance for installations of this type.
We also designed and installed a pipework system to collect the roof water run off from the ten lodges, this passes through a gravel filter bed and is distributed between two of the adjacent fishing lakes to assist in maintaining the water level and add clean oxygenated water to the benefit of the fish and the natural aquatic life in the lakes.
As work on site commenced we were also asked to construct the concrete bases for the lodges, this demonstrates our ability to adapt to our clients needs and demonstrates our civils experience and capabilities.
Also we were asked on completion of the works to topsoil and seed areas effected by the works , we are experienced in this as we pride ourselves on each project to leave the site ready for use , all subject to the clients requirements and budget.
As the work progressed our client decided that fishermen visiting the adjacent lake would be best served by a new car park to give Lodge Guests more privacy and create better access to the lake in question for those less able to walk long distances carrying heavy fishing tackle. The owners of Wold View do everything they can to make their lakes and surroundings accessible to everyone.
We were asked to design and build a parking area for approx fifteen cars and connecting access road to main site road whilst working round existing trees and to fit into the landscape generally.
A simple stone sub base with recycled crushed tarmac topping was installed to create a cost effective parking area that will serve the site with little maintenance for years to come.
This project demonstrates are ability to work with our clients to assist in aspects of a project as required and deliver to a budget and time frame whilst ensuring installations and associated works are carried out to the highest standard.
